Psychotherapy and Counselling Supervision
in London, by phone and on skype
Creative Counselling Supervision offers a contained, safe space for the supervisee not only to explore his or her ongoing work with clients, but also to be held, supported and inspired during difficult times by the supervisor. There is space for all your feelings, your counter-transference, your thoughts, your fears, your questions…
Good Supervision is not only a professional requirement for practicing psychotherapists and counsellors, it is also a real gift to ourselves and our clients.
I provide Integrative, Transpersonal Supervision for Accredited Psychotherapists of all training modalities, Trainee Psychotherapists as well as Pastoral Supervision for members of the helping professions.
You are welcome to bring to our work together whatever you want – no question, no feeling is ‘too insignificant’.
An Integrative, Transpersonal Approach to Supervision
My integrative, in-depth approach to supervision is informed by the many different supervision modalities I have experienced and profited from since the early 1990s, ranging from Psychodynamic Supervision, over Gestalt Supervision to supervision in the psychiatric sector (PSI and DBT/CBT) as well as many years of Transpersonal Supervision and Jungian Supervision.
Together we will explore your client’s attachment styles, his or her family pattern and the dynamics between the two of you as well as parallel processes that may surface in our supervision work. Our work will be collaborative to support both you and your clients, so that you can enjoy your work and make a positive difference in the lives of those who put their trust in you.
I will also encourage you to bring your clients’ dreams and help you to look at the dynamics analytically as well as in the context of transgenerational constellation work, where appropriate.
Most of all, as an integrative, transpersonal supervisor, I see our supervision as a sacred space for you to bring whatever you choose.
My Background as Counselling Supervisor
My experience of working in a private psychiatric hospital for six years, with clients with a range of diagnoses ranging from paranoid schizophrenia, bi-polar depression, dissociative disorders and personality disorders, self-harm and eating disorders combined with my ten years of working in transpersonal private practice with a range of issues towards self-actualization allows me to provide practical, grounded strategies when your clients are in crisis as well as a tentative, spiritual and warm space for unfoldment.
Working with Dreams, Family Constellations and the Jungian Sand-tray are amongst my favourites to help us explore the Shadow, deep, hidden Family Dynamics as well as Transference and Counter-transference – if you are curious. And I will be delighted to find out more about how you like to work and use supervision.
I am a fully qualified Integrative, Transpersonal Supervisor (UKCP registered), with a post-graduate Diploma in Supervision and Consultancy from NAOS (members of the faculty include Prof. Andrew Samuels (former UKCP Chair and Jungian Analyst and Supervisor) and Prof. Ernesto Spinelli (Existential Supervisor)).
Skype and Telephone Supervision
A number of therapists and supervisors have asked me after my experience with phone and Skype Supervision, so it is worth saying a few words. I have several years of experience of using Skype and Telephone Supervision as a supervisee myself and have had the joy of providing it myself as a supervisor for some years, finding it very effective.
Of course there are limitations – some of the techniques offered in face-to-face integrative supervision like chair-work and sand-tray work are more difficult to reproduce on the phone. On the other hand, working over the phone or via Skype cuts out travelling time, which might leave you as a supervisee less stressed.
Most layers of Transpersonal Integrative Supervision are easy to access over Skype or the phone, including working with the body/energetically, Jungian dream-work or psychodynamic thinking. Please also confer phone therapy.
Supervisees (in other countries) will have to take responsibility for establishing whether their statuary supervision requirements set by their professional bodies will be met by our work or whether we agree to work on a consultancy basis only.
Supervisor of Supervisors
I also offer Integrative Supervision of Supervision to other supervisors of various modalities, Integrative, Transpersonal or otherwise. Working collaboratively across varying modalities of supervision can be particularly fruitful and help us to widen our experiences and skills sets. As with other supervision, I will always aim to respect your particular way of working before offering additional ways of looking at the supervision provided.
In the past I have also supervised the supervision delivered by a Social Worker to his team, which was very fruitful, as well as having provided pastoral supervision to Astrologers and Acupuncturists – so if you feel you could do with some support, whatever your background may be, please feel free to be in touch.
For a number of years, I have been providing group supervision for Brent Bereavement Service, London.
Supervision sessions are charged at £60 in the daytime and at £70 from 5pm onwards.
